2013.05.07Proselytizer on Chrome Webstore

Hey! Proselytizer is now available on Chrome Webstore.

If you have the time to leave a nice review to tell onlookers that it ain't plain poo, it would be great! :)

To celebrate this, prices have been laser cut and the number of free travels has been increased.

2013.04.25April failure

I am working on a 2.5D remake of a game I really enjoyed on my old CPC: Bombjack,

Today the game looks like this:

I wanted to use this month's game to learn how to create and use 3d sprites and animations.

Learning how to create and animate things using Blender took a little bit of time but wasn't really complicated.

Finding a good export format and using the result with Away3D required more tests and fixes.

Now everything works fine.

The TODO list:

  • bonuses
  • one more enemy kind
  • levels (at least 4)
  • increasing difficulty
  • highscore table
  • some UV textures to make things looks nicer
  • sound fx
  • particles
  • a jetpack on the back of the cat
  • transition screens
  • more fun

Too long a list for one remaining day… Nevermind, I'll try to finish Bombcat in May.

2013.03.28Articube

This month I wanted to learn some 3D programming bases.

I also wanted to create a game which would please to my 3 years old son.

Playing with colored cubes, I chose a simple sculpture/painting gameplay I and my son found enjoyable.

The goal of the game is to reproduce 3D forms digging a cube. The player can paint freely. Nothing too fancy but it's fun and it just fitted perfectly my own goals :)

I'll have to improve the game a little bit next week but you can already play it here: http://articube.labe.me

2013.03.06Flying Saucer Championship on the Leap Motion newsletter

Whether it be good or bad for it, my games are yet to be discovered by the world.

Hence, when someone talks about something I made, I like to celebrate with a post there :)

Today Flying Saucer Championship appeared in the Leap Motion Developer newsletter:

Flying Saucer Championship with the Leap Motion Controller

Retro gaming meets sci-fi motion-control technology. Flying Saucer Championship, labe-me’s latest creation, is a flying saucer race that you can play from your browser. Warning: you may lose several hours of your life playing this game.

Short and strait to the fun!

After testing the game a little bit more with a game-pad and the keyboard, I decided that the game will be dedicated to the Leap Motion controller and won't have any extra controller scheme.

A great part of the fun resides in controlling the saucer with the finger and learning how to do it well (ie: improving this very special skill).

Doing it with a game-pad would require me to create a totally different game-play to keep the control skill interesting.

I may try the mouse scheme in the future which could give some interesting feeling too…

Anyway, I think I will work on another race game later this year, this time with competitors!

As far as Flying Saucer Championship is concerned, a ranking table is planed and an Improved version may be delivered to the Leap Motion application store (Airspace) in May or June.

2013.02.27Yet another unidentified flying game

Flying Saucer Championship

As announced earlier the game requires a Leap Motion controller to work :)

The good news is: they announced today that shipping will begin the 13th of may, 3 days before my birthday ;)

Since only a few of you will have the device (at the time I am writing this), I filmed a really bad race and put it on Youtube for your pleasure (and my shame):

Just in time to go spend a few days with my familly. I will think about the march game on the road!
